I’ve discovered, much to my delight, that Ben Croshaw (Zero Punctuation) and I have about a 95% co-incidence rate on liking video games. That is to say, generally, he likes the games I like, dislikes the games I dislike, for similar reasons, and if I really enjoy a game, he really enjoys it too (see: Portal, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time). We seem to only differ in minor ways – he may dislike certain aspects of a game more than me, but that’s no big deal.
I’ve also discovered, in attempting to describe Croshaw’s style to my son, I can do a fairly good job of mimicking his delivery, only with less cursing and fewer big words (mainly because I’m ad-libbing, not due to any innate linguistic superiority of the Anglo-Australian game critic).
Hmm.. What’s next – Ah! I could write a review of Spore, in advance of his, and see how they match.
